I’m not one of those people but I have been to a few really scary concerts. It won’t be a full-on rock look because you can’t change the person that you are. Now I’m painting my nails black people are getting worried.
When I was in the group I’d only wear really light things and light make-up. I’m thinking of dying my hair black for the next video. You’ve got a more sophisticated image now you’re solo. I don’t really dislike anyone in the pop world – I’m sure there are people I wouldn’t like if I met them – but that hasn’t really happened yet. There’s been rumours about us slagging each other off, but I don’t know which bits are true and which aren’t. She said I was looking sexy because I’d put some weight on. I went to the same drama school as Heidi for a while, so I know her well and I recently saw Keisha at a party and we had a nice chat. I just get on with the Sugababes when I see them. During the Atomic Kitten/Sugababes feud the Babes wouldn’t say a bad word about you. It’s basically a strain for people to go between the two. Why’s it the hard to sing?īecause it’s whispery and very soft in the verses about being in love but in the choruses it has huge, high, long notes. I did it anyway because everyone wanted to see what it would sound like and when they heard it they said it had to be the first single because they loved it so much. When someone suggested I sing Woman In Love, I said no, because it’s the hardest song ever. He said I had a lovely voice and asked if I wanted to work with him. Your first single is a cover of Woman In Love. People keep coming up to me saying: ‘Aren’t you nice, you’re really lovely.’ It’s a bit odd. It’s weird, but I seem to have got a really nice profile out of it. I was definitely worried about the whole bikini thing on Celebrity Love Island but when someone says: ‘We’ll pay for you to go to Fiji’, how can you turn it down? It was absolutely brilliant. Again, if you’re shy why did you go on TV only wearing a bikini for a month? It’s like I can’t stop and I don’t want to get off stage at the end of a show. I’m shy when it comes to talking about things like my private life but once I get on stage there’s this weird vibe that gets going. Why did you go into singing if you’re shy? Standing on a stage isn’t something you’d associate with shy people. Sometimes you want to keep it low-key but as a solo singer you can’t really do that, the pressure’s on you.
Some of it’s still a bit hard because I’m quite shy. It’s good but I’m still getting used to it. What’s the best thing about being solo now?Īll the attention’s on me, ha, ha, ha.
